getting even.. who needs a reality check.. artist trading cards / aceo / miniature art and more....

hi everyone!! tons of good stuff going on here... the weather is beautiful.. i' spent some time outdoors doing some collage work yesterday. will post pics when it is finished.. it is a womans face.. a little (for-ev-er -ish) if you remember that work of mine.. but not really. didn't feel like cutting and pasting in the studio so took it outdoors yesteray --- which was really quite a treat because my soccer playing boy moose (who has a very serious obsession with soccer balls) was literally dropping a ball in my lap every minute so i'd throw a ball... cut a little.. .throw a ball.. cut a little. and my baby stoney got a new baby pool for the backyard (he is as obsessed with water as moose is with soccer) -- so when i wasn't being bombarded with soccer balls from the MOOSE my little lover boy stoney (aka mr bones) would come by me (just after emerging from the baby pool) to stand right by me and s-h-a-k-e all the water off. which was tooooooooooo cute because stoney has facial expressions like NO other -- and every time he would do it he would have this shit eating grin on his face! my little angels... love 'em! -- (for those of u who keep up with their pics some new ones for this month were uploaded the other day.)

okay.. so below are some quick updates on new works, ending at auction, new at auction, keck miniature art and lots more... this is a long one folks so grab a smoothie or fresh squeezed glass of oj (don't tell me if you are grabbing a cup of coffee.. because i will just tell you WHY you shouldn't be drinking it) and get comfy.....

i apologize i didn't get any newsletter notice out on the addition of this auction to my auction site. got busy here and there is only a day left. click on the image below you can access the auction. i wasn't really wanting to list this one at auction.. but hubby loves it. if you've met hubby and i at the shows or know us from phone calls/emails then you know that he and i are night and day, have little to no common interests and agree on NOTHING. the works i love he usually hates -- -when he goes to hang my abstract works (if i don't sign them) he usually photographs them upside down (we see everything DIFFERENTLY!) -- the good lord only knows how we get along so well... and how we've made it together 19 years... neither of us will ever know ;-) --- so hubby's choice currently at auction - reality check....

so looking at his auction (with no bids... yes you can rest assured i am reminding him every hour - LOL!) we were laughing about the reality check auction last night (when i told him he needed a reality check) and together we actually agreed on something and decided we'd try something new and let my newsletter subscribers decide which of my original works they would like to see listed at auction . so if you get a spare minute please take the survey below and let us know which original painting YOU would like to see listed at auction. (THE SURVEY WILL END IN TWO DAYS - AT NOON ON JUNE 19TH) and the original painting with the majority of votes will list at auction this thursday evening for a 5 day auction.

and... as an incentive to participate in the survey, IF you participate in the survey, register at abstractartauctions.com (using the same email address you use in the survey) - bid in the auction and win the auction you will receive 20% OFF your auction end price.

COLLECTORS CHOICE SURVEY

SURVEY: Which Keck original painting do you want to see at auction?

TAKE SURVEY HERE - (which keck original do you want to see at auction)

if you took the survey yesterday (how /where did you find out about my art) and you tried using the coupon code on my latest book - I apologize - the site was not set up for the book to use the coupon code - a couple of you called to order -- but in case anyone did try using it on the book yesterday and the discount wasn't showing up we are sorry about any inconvenience - it has been fixed and does reflect now on the site. (sorry!)

KECK - MINIATURE ART: Artist Trading Cards - ACEO - Mail Art

for the past year.. perhaps a little longer i've been making miniature paintings and collages on 2.5 x 3.5 inch canvas and paper. i've never traded them or sold them. i have.. i don't know.. i'd guess a couple hundred of them or better. the first one i made i actually made with the intention to sell as an ACEO on eBay and never did. after that i did a little reading on the history of mail art, artist trading cards, aceo's miniature art and found it quite interesting -- if i ever have the time i'll put up a page on my site about the similarties, differences, origins, etc. but anyway i liked the idea of little art and started making it. the first aceo i made that i didn't sell actually got me started in painting my large abstract paintings in my wish list series... i don't even know if i have that one anymore. it is probably in my drawer but ??? not sure.

below are some of my personal favorites.... (the quality of the photos is pretty poor.. these were not shot with my hasselblad as i am sure you will be able to tell).

and i've done quite a few celebrity ones... there was an article in a fashion magazine and one of the people in the interview was hotelier jeff klein and he was saying how he didn't allow people like lindsay lohan and paris hilton in his hotels and "If you say Paris Hilton's staying in your hotel all of a sudden your cheap and tacky". so there is a little pic of jeff klein kicking li-lo out on her ass.. and paris in a court jester suit.. blah, blah, blah well the card i guess is pretty much self-explanatory.. but i thought it was funny.

i've got circle drawing ones, collage ones like one i did not too long ago - a few weeks ago - titled - 'how to develop a winning streak'.... this one i actually worked on in the truck on my way back and forth to exhibiting at the artist project in chicago.. the artist project part of it is actually from scott's name tag pass that you had to wear during the show.

i work on them off and on... usually late at night... or if we go on a long trip somewhere in the car i do a lot of the circle ones and the tiny collage ones. a collector that came into my gallery for an appt last week came into my studio (sometimes i let people in... sometimes i don't... i'm picky that way) --- anyway a few of them were laying on my floor and he picked one up we started talking about it so i went to the other side of my studio and pulled open my drawer where i stash all of them and we spent about an hour just looking through them and talking about them. i had a good time showing them to him and he was really interested in them so it was a lot of fun and i figured i snap some pics and show here in my newsletter so you can see some of the other things i work on that doesn't get shown.
